Sue Redmon Albritton, 79, of Calhoun, Louisiana passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 2, 2013. Services will be held on May 4, 2013 at Feazel Chapel First Baptist Church of West Monroe at 11:00AM with Trey Albritton officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00AM until Service Time on Saturday. Interment will follow at Halsey Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home.

Sue was born on March 8, 1934 in Smithville, Tennessee and passed away surrounded by her family at Landmark Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in West Monroe, LA on May 2, 2013. Sue is preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Walls Broussard of Smithville, TN and sister, Florence Sanders of Pensacola, FL.

She is survived by her loving husband, Clyde Albritton, Jr; sisters, Virginia Maxwell and husband Larry of Lafayette, LA and Betty James and husband Butch of Sun City Center, FL; sons, Trey Albritton and fiancée Donna Manning of Monroe, LA; Steve Albritton and wife Debbie of Sugar Land, TX; daughters, Neppie Trahan and husband Freddy of Lafayette, LA; Jessica Penn and husband Chuck of Keithville, LA; Tracey Murphy and husband Ross of Dallas, TX; Debby Wilson and husband Larry of Smithville, TX; 16 Grandchildren and 12 Great-Grandchildren.

Sue was a member of Bayou Oaks Baptist Church in Monroe, LA and a member of the Daughters of the Nile (organization that cares for the needs of the Children at Shriners Hospital). She was an avid golfer and enjoyed winning but showed patience and compassion to less experienced players. When Sue was unable to play golf she turned her hobbies to gardening and taking care of her dog, June Bug. She was able to remain at home because of the great care that she received from her loving husband, Clyde. She was affectionately known as “Grams” to her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren, and was always glad to see family and friends. She never met a stranger and always kept her sense of humor.

Funeral services for Mr. Thomas W. Smith, 72, will be 10AM Saturday at the chapel of Griffin Funeral Home; conducted by Rev. David Moreland.
Mr. Smith was born to the union of William and Jodie Fowler Smith in Holly Ridge, LA on March 26, 1941 and passed from this life on Wednesday May 1, 2013 at Glenwood Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.
He was a resident of West Monroe; retired truck driver; attended the Church of Christ Faith; and served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He enjoyed gardening, an avid outdoorsman which included duck hunting and fishing; and had a passion for old tractors.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Benjamin and Thurman Lavelle Smith and a sister Merline Smith.
Survivors include his wife of fifty years Joyce W. Smith; children Curtis Smith (Mary), Scott Smith (Jeannie) and Bonnie Smith Platt (Daryl); mother-in-law Clotille Williams; grandchildren Meagen, Taylor, Ashley, Zac, Courtney, Skylar and Kaitlyn; great grandchild Jaycee; also survived by his canine companions Caesar and Ava; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation for friends will be Friday 5pm until 8pm.

Marie (Poelman) Adams died May 2, 2013

Marie Poelman Adams

Funeral services for Marie Poelman Adams, age 92 of Columbia, will be held at 1:30 PM Saturday, May 4, 2013 with Father James Nellikunnel saying Mass. Interment will follow at Columbia Hill Cemetery, Columbia, LA.

Visitation will be Saturday, May 4, 2013 at St. John’s Catholic Church from 11:30 PM until time of service.

Mrs. Adams was born on January 13, 1921 in New Orleans, LA to the union of Peter John Poelman and Mary Feeley Poelman and left this life to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, LA. Mrs. Adams was a dedicated and faithful member of her church, St. John’s Catholic Church. She was involved in mental health issues and served as a board member for the Caldwell Mental Health. Over the years she enjoyed gardening and more recently has taken up bird watching.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lee Roy Adams, II, D.D.S.; son, John Poelman Adams; brother, Peter Jack Poelman and her grandson, John Michael May.

Survivors include her two sons: Lee Roy Adams, III and wife, Meloney and Peter Linus Adams; four daughters: Mary Riser, Sally Drinkhouse, Elizabeth “Betty” Smith and husband, Kenneth and Katherine McLendon and husband, G. Wallace; eight granddaughters: Therese Nagen and husband, Sammy, Dr. Leigh Liles and husband, Dr. Bart, Anna Holloway and husband, Kyle, Kendra Collins and husband, Dave, Katherine Smith, Jaclyn Hall and husband, Bradley, Julia Katherine French and husband, Iassac and Eva Marie Drinkhouse; fifteen great-grandchildren; two lifelong friends: Edith Godfrey Laveseur and Billie Gartman and many other close friends.

Pallbearers will be Sammy Nagem, Dr. Bart Liles, Kyle Holloway, Dave Collins, Bradley Hall and Iassac French. Honorary pallbearers will be Monty Adams, Sr., Monty Adams, Jr., Curt Adams, Blake Adams and Christopher Blake Adams.

Funeral service for Sylvia C. Moss, age 86, of Dubach, LA will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, LA. Officiating the service will be Bro. Connie Smith and Bro. Randy Lee. Interment will follow at Fellowship Cemetery in Dubach, LA.

Mrs. Moss was born March 22, 1927 and passed away May 1, 2013.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Rich and Hattie Colvin; sons: James Richard “Ricky” Harris and Joseph Edgar Moss.

Mrs. Moss was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher.

She is survived by daughter: Madelyn Beckham of Jackson, MS; sister: Dorothy Cantrell of Allen, TX; brother: Owen Perry of Sherman, TX; grandchildren: Michael Beckham, Scott Beckham, Michelle Chapman, Tracy Harris and Lindsay Harris; 7 great grandchildren ; and 1 great great grandchild.
