SPRINGFIELD — A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. today, Aug. 12, at Northwood Christian Church in Springfield for Betty J. Carson of Springfield, who died Aug. 8 of age-related causes. She was 86.
She was born Aug. 12, 1926, in Newton, Kan., to James Coleman and Rose Waggonner Coleman. She married Ralph Carson on Feb. 18, 1984, in Reno, Nev. He died Dec. 23, 2011.
She graduated from high school in Newton, Kan. She owned a shoe shop for 19 years and worked at the city police department.
Survivors include two stepsons, Joe and Jim, both of Cottage Grove; four stepdaughters, Linda Williamson and Joni Garner, both of Cottage Grove, Gloria Beckner of Eugene and Peggy Carson of Keizer; a brother, Robert Coleman of Newton, Kan.; two sisters, Carolyn Ferrell of Peoria, Ill., and Lydia Owens of Chandler, Ariz.; and many great grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
