COTTAGE GROVE — The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13, at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove for Betty M. McAbee of Cottage Grove, who died Aug. 7 of lung cancer. She was 90.
She was born June 23, 1922, in Petoskey, Mich., to George and Hazel Druck Clink. She married George Ring in 1943. They later divorced. She married Curtis “Mac” McAbee in 1959 in Billings, Mont. He died June 11, 1991.
She graduated from high school in Portland and attended business school.
She worked as a civilian for the Department of the Navy in San Diego, worked in a cannery and for the Pendleton Roundup, worked for various dry cleaners in Oregon and Montana and, after moving back to Lane County, worked as a bookkeeper for a jeweler until purchasing the Hillcrest Market in Cottage Grove.
Survivors include a son, Jame “Butch” Ring of Riverton, Wyo.; three daughters, Judy Rieger of Syracuse, Neb., Constance Cannon of Gooding, Idaho and Georgia Swenson of Vancouver, Wash.; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great grandchildren. An infant son, George Albert Ring Jr., and great-grandson, Brandon Cannon, died previously.
