1919 – 2007
Marie L. Greil, 88, of the Town of Wheatland, Wis., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, at Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington, Wis. She was born July 2, 1919, in New Munster, Wis., to Henry and Lucy (nee Schuerman) Heiderman. She spent her early life in New Munster, Wis., and was a graduate of Burlington High School. Marie had been a life time resident of the Town of Wheatland, Wis. On Oct. 25, 1941, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in New Munster, Wis., she was united in marriage to William P. Greil.
Following marriage they resided at Lily Lake, Wis. Marie and her husband were owners of Bill & Marie’s Tavern in Lily Lake, Wis. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, served as Secretary of the Kenosha County Tavern League for over 25 years, was a member of The Tavern League of Wisconsin, Bill & Marie’s Bowling Team in Twin Lakes, Wis., and her family was designated as a “Century Family” by the County of Kenosha in 1976. Survivors include her husband, William P. Greil of the Town of Wheatland, Wis.; sons, Gerald (Muriel) Greil of Burlington, Wis., and Edward (Kitty) Greil of Waukesha, Wis.; and by grandchildren, Melissa (David) Palfery of Combined Locks, Wis., Megan (Eric) Stevens of Waukesha, Wis., and Andy (Sarah) Greil of Greenfield, Wis. She is further survived by great grandchildren, Bode and Isabella Stevens. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter in infancy, one brother, Emery Heiderman, and by a sister, Margaret Tracy. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with Rev. Mike Erwin officiating and Rev. Paul Daniels co-concelebrating. Burial will follow at St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Thursday, Dec. 20, at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to one’s choice have been suggested.
