Ravenwood, MO: Arda M. Kerwin, 76, passed away peacefully, Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, MO.

Arda was born December 31, 1939 in Highland, KS. The daughter of Marvin and Martena (Jensen) Swinford. She graduated from Stanberry R-II High School in 1958.

On April 25, 1959, Arda married the love of her life, Martin Kerwin. She was a very dedicated farm wife and mother of 4 children.

Arda enjoyed sewing, crafting, square dancing, and planning trips with family and friends. She enjoyed her trips to Branson and taking cruises to the Bahamas and Alaska. Arda was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and St. Anne’s Altar Society in Stanberry.

Arda was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Darrel Swinford; nephew, Robbie; niece, Joy; brother-in-law, Ed Guard and sister-in-law, Mary Swinford.

Survivors include her husband, Martin, of the home, their children: Steven, Platte City, MO; Alan (Shannon), Ravenwood, MO; Susan (Brad) McMillen, Pelzer, SC and Amy (Richard) Messner, Stanberry, MO, 11 Grandchildren: Justin and Hannah Kerwin; Alex (Jolene) Kerwin, Ashley (Matthew) Henggeler, Kaity (Matt) Holtman; Collin, Tucker, Maggie & Logan McMillen; and Ryan & Benjamin Messner, 6 Great Grandchildren: Emilee, Lexi and Russell Kerwin, Trent and Anna Henggeler and Samuel Holtman, Sister, Marilyn (Bob) Alldredge, Fairfax, MO; Brothers, Jim (Sandy) Swinford, Kearney, MO and Kenny (Susy) Swinford, Omaha, NE; Sisters-in-law, Eva Herl, Holt, MO and Mary Jo Guard, Kansas City, MO; Brothers-in-law, Robert (Patsy) Kerwin, Houston, TX and James (Carol Ann) Kerwin, Grant City, MO, and many special family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 25, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Stanberry, MO under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Stanberry, MO. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Stanberry, MO. A Rosary will be held at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation and/or Mt. Calvary Cemetery in care of Roberson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 153, Stanberry, MO 64489.
