Lifelong Port Angeles resident Duane Eldon Ballard died at age 40.
He was born in Port Angeles to Kenneth E. Ballard and Shirley (Jackman) Critchfield.
Mr. Ballard had a lifetime struggle with diabetes and other major medical problems. Throughout his life, he enjoyed working on VW Bugs and racing motorcycles.
His greatest joy was his son, Travis, who is a first-class racer in his age bracket.
His survivors, all of Port Angeles, include son, Travis Duane Ballard, mother Shirley Critchfield, father and step-mother Kenneth and Trudy Ballard, sister Tina Ballard and her fiance Michael “Mike”‘ Breen, brother and sister-in-law Barry and Suzi Ballard, and brother Douglas Ballard of St. John.
Services: Sunday, Aug. 17, at 2 p.m., scattering of cremains at the Olympic Peninsula Motorcycle Club on Deer Park Road (1½ miles south). Olympic Cremation Association, Port Angeles, is in charge of arrangements.
